Curriculum Development Workshop for the Curriculum Development Champions from various provinces.
6 staff members from Lilitha College of Nursing , attended a curriculum development workshop in Johannesburg – Birchwood Hotel. This has been funded by Fundisa and NEA through the office of the Chief Nursing Officer – Dr J.N. Makhanya (CNO).
From Lilitha College of Nursing the representatives were:

The purpose of the workshop was to:
The Strategic Plan for Nurse Education, Training and Practice 2012/13-2016/17 called for the Office of the CHIEF NURSING OFFICER (CNO) within the NDoH to facilitate a national core curriculum for nursing, in consultation with relevant stakeholders. By 2019 all public colleges are to have met all requirements for accreditation to enable them to offer programmes leading to nursing qualifications registrable with SANC guided by the Primary Health Care approach to health care delivery, the Burden of Disease, National Health Priorities, UNAIDs 90-90-90 HIV targets, SANC’s Competency Framework for Nursing Practice, and WHO Regional Guidelines for evaluating Basic Nursing and Midwifery. Three prototype curricula were developed.
The curriculum champions’ workshop was in the form of train the trainer approach to ensure that in each province there are champions for curriculum development who can ensure that they develop the programs of the college through to accreditation and to capacitate staff as well.
